HULL:

This Boat was built by Harland and Wolf in 1937 in 10/6/4 plating with genuine rivets. The back cabin is largely unchanged from its days of cargo carrying whilst the front cabin has been converted under the canvas to living accommodation. She has had extensive hull refurbishment including the addition of a weed hatch and under canvas steel work being completed by Graeme Pearce at Stockton Dry Dock Co between 2001 and 2006. The first 16ft remain open under the canvas, this configuration retains the “historic Boat” status with related licence discounts.

The boat featured in a book called “Hold on a minute” by Tim Wilkinson, which documents some of her working life in the late 1940’s.

She has a 446L diesel tank with a 30L day tank which is manually filled by the hand pump. Her water tanks in the front hold have a capacity of 640L. She was last surveyed in 2020 and was blacked at the same time.

Height to Cabin Centre 6ft 5” (1.98m)

FIT OUT:

Boatman’s Cabin, is lined in pine tongue and groove and decorated in traditional Scumble with roses and Castle’s.  Engine room is Painted Steel,  Main Cabin—Spray PU Foam, lined in ash, with T and G ceiling inset with Prism lights with Oak planked flooring.

Entrance to the boat from either side is Midships through the side hatch and down wooden steps to one side is the bathroom while the other way leads to the main living and sleeping areas, Please be aware that there is not access directly from the living area in to the Engine room.

BATHROOM (4ft2”/1.28m):

Consists of a shower with curtain, a cassette toilet and a vanity unit with wash basin set on top. Along with a cupboard hosing the hot water cylinder.

BEDROOM (8ft7”/2.65m):

Consists of a fixed sofa bed which converts to a double bed, at one end is a small wardrobe. Light is provided by port holes, which again can be covered by the canvas.

GALLEY (6ft9”/2.1m):

The galley is set to both sides of the cabin and has a pleasant country style to  it with the white painted cupboards with wooden knobs and a beech block worktop.  To one side is an inset butlers sink while on the other is the 4 ring hob with sperate oven and grill along with an under counter Montpellier fridge with separate freezer compartment. There are two large sliding windows in the galley which can also be hidden by the canvas.

SALOON (11ft4”/3.45m):

Has a set of half glazed doors which lead to the front canvas area, either side of the door is a set of cupboards to one side are a set of shelves and the other is the TV.  On the cabin side is a lift up table while on the other is a designer radiator and a Kabola Old Dutch stove—refurbished in 2023.

There are two further large sliding windows in this area, which can be hidden under the canvas.

ENGINE ROOM (5ft 6”/ 1.7m)& ELECTRICS:

In pride of place in this immaculate engine room is a lister JP2MGR, from approx. 1952, she is raw water cooled and connected to a Blackstone 3G/2R gearbox, which was reconditioned in 2001. Under her current owner, she has undergone regular servicing and has had an hour meter installed so this can be accurately recorded and monitored, she is controlled by traditional hand controls.

Electric is provided by an Adverc managed engine alternator and a 720W Victron solar charge system and batteries, with a 1.7kw inverter/charger with a shoreline connector.  Heating and hot water in the main cabin is provided by and diesel boiler and radiators along with the Kabloa stove, whilst the boatman’s cabin has an Epping solid fuel range.

BOATMAN’S CABIN (8ft 2”/2.4m)

This is a lovely example of a boatman’s cabin, with all the traditional art work, stove etc. With the large canvas hold stretching in front it brings back a sense of nostalgia.
