NB Zion

HULL:

Built by Hancock and Lane in 1977, Zion is a Norseman S40. This 40ft boat is painted in dark green with a grey roof and cream coachlines and is decorated with traditional roses. The well deck has a cratch cover with side screens and has been fitted with storage box/benches to create a pleasant seating area whilst also providing valuable additional storage.

A manufacturer’s plaque welded to the hull bulkhead, proudly proclaims the Hancock and Lane manufacturer in Daventry. The rear of the boat has a cruiser style stern and has a modern light and airy pram hood providing lots of extra enclosed space.

She was last surveyed in May 2023 and was last blacked in October 2023, at which time she also had 6 new anodes fitted.

FIT OUT:

Insulated with rock wool and lined out in Pine T & G, whilst the floor is laid to engineered oak throughout the cabin.

SALOON (8’0”/ 2,4m):

Entering the boat from the rear cruiser deck and down some steps into the saloon, we are welcomed by the cool and soothing palette of the interior decor. The sofa converts into a double bed and the Reflex diesel heater has a back boiler that serves the 1 radiator in the fore-cabin. There are cottage-style LED wall lights in the saloon as well as strip-lights.

GALLEY (4’3”/1,3m):

Leading on is the galley which is defined by a wooden shelf display unit. This practically laid out area has a gas oven/grill, a 3 burner hob with glass lid, a stainless steel sink and drainer and a 12 volt fridge. There are cupboards below with additional shelves above.

BATHROOM (3’7”/1.1m):

A door leads through to the walk-through bathroom area. To the one side is a Thetford cassette toilet (with spare cassette) and hand basin, and on the opposite side we find the shower cubicle with glazed door. All of these fittings are brand new. An ‘On-Demand’ gas water heater is situated over the basin.

BEDROOM/FRONT CABIN (8’2”/2,5m):

Continuing forward from the bathroom, we enter the fore cabin which has a pull-out futon style bed. There are two cupboards under the portholes, more LED wall lights, a strip lamp on the ceiling and a small LED reading lamp over the bed. There is a TV aerial on the roof above the fore cabin and an amplifier box and TV point (not tested). The front cabin opens out onto the well deck (5’1”/1,55m), complete with cratch cover and bench seating with storage underneath.

ENGINE ROOM & ELECTRICS:

The engine is a Lister SR2 which was last serviced in March 2024. It is mated to a Lister gearbox and has a grease lubricated stern gear.

Power is provided on the boat by a single alternator with 1 starter and 2 110a/h domestic batteries. She also has a land line connection with a galvanic isolator, a 12v Victron battery system, a Victron Connect bluetooth battery charger and a 1.6kw inverter. There are two 160w solar panels on the roof, with a solar controller.
