Built by Colecraft, this 42ft traditional boat is painted in green and cream with red coach line’s. It has a number of unusual features in keeping with its steamboat properties, with a diesel tank in the bow, side doors in the engine room and a bolted plate on the roof to allow access to the engine and boiler.
Fitted out by the original owner, stepping on this boat is like walking back in time, it oozes charm and character with scumble glazed panels, traditional roses and castles, delicate oil lamp style light fittings and solid fuel stoves to keep you warm.
She was last blacked in June 2024. The bow features a spacious 6” well deck with cratch cover, complete with side storage lockers. There are radiators throughout the boat but they are not yet connected to the main boiler.
Height to Cabin Centre 6ft 0” (1.83m)
Stepping in from the front cratch covered area through two solid doors, we enter the galley/dining area. There is 2-seater Pullman-style dinette to the one side which converts to a single 3rd berth. Opposite this sits a Stratford solid fuel range cooker which also serves as a very effective source of heat for the boat. There is a small prep area with painted units housing the s/s sink with brass tap over, with storage shelves above and drawers and cupboards beneath. Natural light is provided by portholes and a pigeon box whilst in the evening a number of vintage style wall lights provide you with light. One of these lights is a traditional paraffin version. It is worth noting that all lighting throughout the boat is 12v. The saloon also has a steel Houdini hatch with a light prism, for additional air and brightness.
Access is though a scumble glazed door. This toilet is tiled in attractive blue and white tiles and houses a small vanity unit with sink, again with a brass tap. Above is a wall unit with concealed mirror and brass lamp. There is space for a cassette toilet against the opposite wall, above of wooden panel which hides the shower tray beneath. To the side of the bathroom is a full height wardrobe, with hanging rail and shelf.
The saloon doubles up as the sleeping area, the sofa extending to become a double bed with storage under. The walls have decorative turned posts creating the panels which are decorated with floral paper. Two large decorative gas style wall lights provide light for the cabin. There is a small stove for heat but this requires a flue pipe to be connected. A number of small shelves offer some handy storage for maps and guide books.
Housing the very heart of NB Trevor, the fabulous and unique steam engine, namely an oil-fired condensing boiler built by Kew Bridge powering a 4” by 4” William Sissons single cylinder steam engine, circa 1955. And a Windemere Kettle!!! Pressure gauges are fitted both inside and out to assist with the running.
The last boiler inspection was completed in August 2024 and is scheduled for renewal in October 2025. It is also worth noting that the seller has a second engine which he is prepared to include in the sale, a valuable resource for spare parts.
There is a 3kw invertor on board wired for 24v but which may need some attention. The boat itself is wired for 240v and has provision for direct connection to shore power. Lights are all LED. Solar panels, boat hook, mooring equipment and windlasses are all included in the sale.
